Filmmaker and aspiring screenwriter Spencer Cohen has long been interested in the issues involving immigration rights and the path to citizenship in this country.  Inspired by a real-life challenge faced by one of his friends, hoping to stay in the US beyond his visa, he imagined this  darkly funny story.

Logline: Two estranged friends reunite after years apart and enter into an awkward, often tense relationship that culminates with one agreeing to participate in a sham gay marriage with the other as a means of avoiding deportation.

About The Author:

Spencer Cohen discovered his love for filmmaking when his father brought home their first digital camcorder. Spencer started experimenting with filming short sketches with his friends and uploading them with Youtube. After figuring out he had quite the passion for filmmaking he decided to attend the University of Miami where he studied film and economics.

Fresh out of college Spencer found a production company, who was looking for an editor for the film Lazarus Rising. Spencer, well versed in editing from all his own short films jumped on the opportunity and really helped shape Lazarus Rising in post production. He then came on board as a producer to help market and find distribution for Lazarus.

He has worked for the New England Patriots and Saucony as a videographer creating a wide variety of content from motion graphic gifs to full documentary commercials. His most recent narrative work had him editing and Co-Producing Genine Tillotson’s web series Next Great Hire.

Currently he is looking forward to developing his first feature film American Dreams.
