$10.00We’ll be reviewing Will Holland’s new pilot When Cruelty Was King. It examines what happens when youth are swept up in a culture of hate and violence – it’s as timely now as it was in the early 1940s.
Our meeting time will be 7:00 – 9:00 PM EST.
As usual, we’ll meet virtually via Zoom so anyone from anywhere may participate.
Will’s pilot and a brief summary of proposed follow-on episodes are both available if you are a subscribed member.
Genre: Biopic/war
Theme: The heart, not the head, is what makes us most distinctly human.
Logline: In a world of steadily intensifying authoritarianism and political violence, a boy growing up in Vienna, Austria tries, with the help of his Boy Scout friends, to keep from being pulled into the Nazi mindset and war machine.
About the Author: After years spent teaching high school English, editing, and speech consulting, Will has enjoyed focusing more of his energy on a longstanding involvement with screenwriting. He first encountered Austrian ski trooper Hans Burtscher while doing research into the U.S. 10th Mountain Division back in 1999 and finally succeeded last summer in getting the legal rights to his life story. Two Roads to Riva, Will’s World War II script, is currently ranked in the top 8% of all scripts carried on the Coverfly platform.
