Joel is a graduate of MIT with a degree in Aero and Astro Engineering and another in Life Sciences. He earned an MD at Tufts and an MBA at Boston University as well as a Certificate in Screenwriting from UCLA. Currently, Joel is a Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. He has been a member of HSSW for ten years and has written ten full-length features, mostly comedic. One of his features, Zombie Cop, was a winner of the 2015 Stage 32 New Blood Contest, and was stage-read at the Central Square Theatre in Cambridge, MA in 2014.
