On Monday February 10th, we welcome yet another new writer, Geoff Wilson with his new feature That Salieri Moment.
LOGLINE:
A frustrated novelist attends the semi-centennial of his M.F.A. program determined to prove that his former classmate — a lightweight, in his estimation — could not possibly have written the seminal work with which he is credited.
GENRE:
Buddy Comedy
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Geoff Wilson is a recovering finance guy (sadly, not the gallingly prosperous kind) who aspires to write/produce a (not conspicuously awful) movie before he exits this earth. He lives in Brookline with his wife and three kids.
FROM GEOFF:
A word about this script: This is a small movie with negligible commercial prospects. It also probably comes across as snobby/1%ish and thematically unsympathetic – there are MUCH bigger problems in this world than the ones my characters face here. I get it. This isn’t Avengers 18 or Just Mercy. At it’s very, very best, this aspires to be a destitute man’s Sideways. On the plus side, it’s important to me, for whatever reason, and it should be dirt cheap to make and that’s something I’d like to try to do. So, for those who can tolerate it, I’m hoping for advice on how to make this particular story better – the characters or their relationships more real, the emotional moments more resonant, the pacing quicker, etc. – or more “makable” rather than how to morph it into a more commercially viable project. Thanks!
SO THERE YOU HAVE IT.
