New member Missy Cohen-Fyffe will present her family comedy WOOF, a finalist in the Creative World Awards. Log line: A lonely boy befriends a dog with unique talents and together they teach the school bullies how to be nice.
Missy, former owner of baby product company Babe Ease, LLC, closed her business several years ago, deciding instead to pursue her true passion of writing. She’s been a contributor to various publications, including The Mom Inventor’s Handbook and The Business Mom Guidebook.
Missy began studying screenwriting through LA-based ScreenwritingU and has penned 4 feature-length scripts; one of her most recent, WOOF, was a finalist in the prestigious Creative World Awards.
“I wrote WOOF,” says Cohen-Fyffe, “because of my dog, Josie. She’s a beautiful yellow Lab, and my family has always believed that if she could talk she would say two things: “I love you!” and “Are you gonna eat that?”” Currently a mother of two living in New Hampshire, Cohen-Fyffe has been a film-lover since watching The Wizard of Oz in elementary school. She sees WOOF as “a lasting tribute” to her beloved dog of 13 years.
Cohen-Fyffe is also president of the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund, established in 1994 after her sister was diagnosed with the disease (she is thankfully still alive). The fund is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary and milestone achievement of reaching its $5 million endowment.
The review of WOOF will be held on Monday, September 21st at 72 Columbus Street, Newton Highlands at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:30pm and dues are $15. First time participants can email director Genine Tillotson for a copy of the script.
