Monday, March 30th We Review the Treatment for Brian Galford’s Feature LONG LIVE THE KING, THE KING IS DEAD
March 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$10.00Next up we look at the outline/treatment for Brian Galford’s feature, LONG LIVE THE KING, THE KING IS DEAD. Treatments or outlines are a great way to test the waters on a script concept!
We LOVE receiving them as first submissions, as they help the author to refine the project before undertaking the ambitious effort of writing the entire screenplay. So, DO consider submitting one!
As always, we’ll meet virtually from 7:00 – 9:00 EST.
FROM BRIAN:
This project is currently in treatment form. I am seeking ideas regarding what additional scenes seem necessary to make sure the plot moves, your input on any holes in the inherent logic of this world and its rules, further visualization of character traits, and whether there is enough conflict? I think there’s some good flesh on these bones, but I am open to suggestions to sculpt the musculature into something really dramatic and captivating.
GENRE: Historical Fantasy/Drama
LOGLINE: At an annual village lottery, a young man is chosen to be king, with a polyamorous sexual mandate. What he doesn’t know is that at the end of that year, he’ll be hacked to pieces and planted by the matriarchy, as an offering to the fertility goddess.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Brian Galford is an Emmy and Telly Award-winning DP, writer and editor with 40 years of experience producing corporate communications, athletic documentaries and dance and music concert footage.Brian graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana campus, with a degree in English Literature with Honors Distinction. He vowed never to pursue a degree in anything related to literature after that.
He’s a voracious reader and attended Robert McKee’s STORY weekend workshop in 1999, and can report it was just as Charlie Kauffman depicted it in ADAPTATION.
