On Monday, 4/20 We Take A Look at Will Holland’s Rewrite of TWO ROADS TO RIVA
April 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$10.00On Monday, 4/20 we review a rewrite of Will Holland’s feature, TWO ROADS TO RIVA. This is Will’s third rewrite as he works to ready this story for outside promotion. Rewrites are hard but essential! So, please step out to support him.
As always, we’ll meet virtually from 7:00 – 9:00 EST. The script is attached.
Logline: Near the end of World War II, two ski troopers – an American obsessed with capturing a strategically vital ridge and an Austrian determined to bring his boyish recruits safely home – meet face to face with tragic consequences.
Genre: War film; biopic; historical drama
About The Author: Will Holland first became hooked on writing screenplays in 1978 when he saw a coming-of-age/cycling film called BREAKING AWAY and set about writing three screenplays that featured the sport of cross-country ski racing. While stymied on that front, he learned that Palmer & Dodge, a law entertainment firm in Boston, had purchased the rights to a memoir by a veteran of the 10th Mountain Division, a unit of ski troops that were instrumental in forcing the surrender of the German army in northern Italy.
In response to some vigorous lobbying on Will’s part, Ike Williams gave the aspiring author the nod to adapt that memoir, and he wrote a script that entertainment lawyer, Elaine Rogers shopped around Hollywood shortly before the 911 attacks.
After continuously revising that script over the past 25 years – much of it in response to input from Harvard Square Screenwriters – Will feels that TWO ROADS TO RIVA is ready for a final vetting before the intensive marketing campaign he plans to initiate over the next few months.
