After three and a half months in LA, immersed in the Harvardwood TV Writing Modules program, HSSW Director, Genine Tillotson returned to Boston, with her eyes opened about the opportunities and challenges of writing for TV. As a result, she has developed this first workshop (one in a proposed series) to help those on the east coast understand the mindset of Hollywood-based content producers.
Can you guess how many TV channels, networks, and streaming avenues exist in 2019?
Do you know which ones produce original content and which ones largely rebroadcast shows produced elsewhere?
Are you aware of all of the new emerging content producers?
Do you have an idea what is likely to get them excited about a particular story?
How and why is your logline important?
What are the big 4 questions you should be prepared to answer when pitching your series to a manager, agent, network or production company?
What materials, besides your script, should you prepare for pitches? And what are THE MOST IMPORTANT ingredients to a successful pitch?
How do you protect your project from intellectual property theft?
What are the best places to submit your script for exposure as far as competitions, festivals or online services?
These questions will be answered, along with many more, as we discuss how to craft your series or TV movie to garner real interest and get it greenlit.
