Back in November of 2013 we challenged writers to pen the next great holiday-themed classic. We hoped screenwriters would find themselves inspired by the conversations, scenes, newspaper stories they witnessed, or read about, during the holiday season (Thanksgiving through New Years).
Our winner, Wendy Labron came up with a true screwball concept — a young woman, hoping to honor the memory of her father (who passed away the previous Christmas) and re-vitalize her mother (who is battling Alzheimer’s) decides to embark on a Christmas-day wedding to her skeptical fiance. But competing with the many demands of the season proves to be a real challenge. Can she lift the spirits of her despondent family or will this undertaking only make matters far worse?
As part of her rewards package, she received a certificate, $100.00 in cash, some very inspiring movies, and a free intensive review with lots of excellent coverage. Wendy is now almost done with her first draft of the screenplay and we are looking forward to reading it. Could it be the next It’s A Wonderful Life?
