On 4/20 Anne Zarella Shares Her First Ever Screenplay, “Plants & Wildlife”

On Monday, April 20th we have new member, Anne Zarrella’s first feature, Plants and Wildlife, inspired by real-life events that the author has observed.

This is a virtual meeting, held via Zoom, so if you would like to participate you may do so from anywhere.  Please contact admin@hsswriters.com for further details.

LOGLINE: Conflict arises in a sleepy New England town when a shifty real estate developer shows up to charm the residents and convince them that putting a casino on a coveted piece of property will make them all rich.
OR

When the last member of a patriarchal family in the small town of Cumberland dies, his estranged wife receives a cold welcome when she comes to town to make sure her husband’s illegitimate child can’t lay claim to a coveted piece of family property.

GENRE: Comedy; Farce

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Anne Zarrella has spent most of her career in communications fields, working in public relations, freelance writing, and book publishing.

She currently works in the editorial department of an academic press. In her spare time she enjoys rescuing stray cats, watching dance, creative writing, and entering cartoon caption contests (winning Cartoon Collections contest #37: https://more.cartooncollections.com/cartoon-caption-contest-winners/).

NOTE FROM ANNE: This is my first screenplay and my difficulty with the logline indicates my difficulty reigning in a story that’s gone astray–I think a lot of the problem has to do with having too many characters so, among other things, I’m hoping to get advice on which ones could be eliminated.

TIME:  7:00 – 9:00 PM EST

COST:  $5.00 payable via Zelle or Paypal (or if you have lost your job or been furloughed, you can attend gratis, but please let us know)
