We Kick Off the New Year on 1/6 with Steve Wrobleski’s “Fan Girls’ Night Out”

Get your creative juices flowing by attending our first review of the semester – a look at Steve (Wro) Wrobleski’s latest feature Fan Girls’ Night Out.

LOGLINE:

An obsessed teen fan steals the ashes of her recently-departed celebrity crush to follow his wishes and scatter his ashes about their hometown. If only it were that simple.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Stephen Wrobleski (Wro) is a writer, director, and actor who has worked all over the New England area in professional and regional theatres. As a director, the bulk of his time has been spent at Wellesley High School where he was the drama teacher for sixteen years and won the state championship in the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild Festival (METG) three times. His students have won state and national awards for acting, dance, improvisation, and musical theatre. In 2017 he won the Moss Hart Memorial Award for the devised play Now In Color, a story about race at Wellesley High School and the world at large.

While at Wellesley, Wro started making short films for regional 48 Film Projects with his company Seriously Wrong Productions. The shorts Deviled Egg, Party Pooper, and Junk Food, placed as “Best Of” in their respective cities. Recently, the short film Valediction, which won Best Actress and 3rd in the Providence 48 Hour Film Project, was also a finalist in the FiLMiC pro competition.

This past spring his short film On Par was “Best of Boston” and won Best Actress at Boston’s 48 Hour Film Project.

In 2013 he made the short film Citizen’s Band which was accepted to several festivals and won “Best Sci-Fi” for the New England Online Film Festival. He has been a finalist in the NYC Midnight Short Screenplay competition and has written several screenplays and plays, including TAZORBACK, Turmoil, Fan Girls’ Night Out, Aquarium Play, and the TV series St. George and the Dragon.
